g-View Selection Guide

There are two models of the g-View available, 10g and 25g. Determine what might be the most suitable g-View based on the mass of the shipment.

What is in the g-View accessory kit?

The g-View accessory kit contains the following items:
1 – g-View Software CD (containing software and user manuals)
1 – Quick Start Manual
1 – iButton Set (DOWNLOAD, SETUP, CLOCK)
1 – iButton USB Connection BUS and Cable

What happens if I change the battery over whilst recording?

If the battery is changed over whilst it is recording, the internal clock will stop when the battery is removed and will restart again when the new battery is inserted. When the trip record is downloaded to the g-View PC software, time breaks and events with potentially corrupted time stamps will be highlighted in red. If you need to do this when you are monitoring a stationary item or it is on a long journey then you will have to use the black CLOCK key to reset the date and time. The black CLOCK key will hold the date and time from the original setup if it hasn’t been used for another g-View since. Best practice however would be to download the data stored to date and then setup the g-View again from the beginning. This would make sure the unit does not also fill up with more than the 100 impacts that it is capable of.

When I try to use the CLOCK or SETUP ibutton the ON and ALARM led's illuminate?

If you see the ON and then the ALARM led illuminate when you apply the black CLOCK or green SETUP ibutton on the g-View, you have not downloaded data with the red DOWNLOAD ibutton.
Use the DOWNLOAD button first to download data from the unit.
Once you have done this you will be able to use the CLOCK and SETUP ibuttons.

How do I know if the g-View is setup to record?

Once you have setup the g-View the ON should be flashing green once every 5 secs. This will indicate that it is recording.

What are the three different coloured ibuttons used for?

There are three different coloured ibuttons included in the g-View accessory kit.

Red DOWNLOAD ibutton – this is used to download data from the g-View
Black CLOCK ibutton – is used to download the computers date and time into the g-View
Green SETUP ibutton – is used to download the setup file into the g-View

Can the CLOCK and SETUP buttons be re-used once they have been programmed?

Yes. When the CLOCK and SETUP buttons have been programmed they can be reused time and time again on the same g-View.

What is the minimum and maximum thresholds that can be setup?

You are only allowed to set the Event threshold for each axis between 20% and 90%.
On a 10g range g-View the lowest threshold setting allowed at 20% of the 10g range would be 2g and the highest at 90% would 9g.
On a 25g range g-View the lowest threshold setting allowed at 20% would be 5g and the highest at 90% would be 22.5g.
